With internet users growing by the minute, comes the great challenge of ensuring faster speeds and higher bandwidths. 5G, the next wireless revolution, comes as a solution that can cater to the endlessly growing base of users. But 5G infrastructure requires denser deployments of small cells within cities having high backhaul capacity. The fibre optic cables can meet this demand but rolling out an extensive fibre network poses deployment complications. Laying down fibre is time consuming and costly process and makes expansion near impossible specifically in developing nations.
The Light Communication technology presents a case for solving this issue and can extend fibre connectivity wirelessly and hence brings a new possibilities for wireless infrastructure planning.

Question 1: What drives you?
I had a keen eye for science-bound discoveries & inventions. It drives me to solve problems with the use of science and technology, one at a time.
Question 2: Why should the delegate attend your presentation?
The presentation will address the light communication role in the 5G infrastructure planning and a case-study on real-time deployment in a 5G test-bed.
Question 3: What emerging technologies/trends do you see as having the greatest potential in the short and long run?
I can see the demand of alternate wireless technologies ( Light Communication) growing exponentially in short to medium run. LC technologies will pose a strong case for adoption in various domain ranging from, defense, telecom infrastructure/5G, enterprise connectivity and eventually in consumer market.
Question 4: What kind of impact do you expect them to have?
The new trends in wireless connectivity will offer better-connected experiences for users. Not only will it usher in a new era of improved network performance and speed but also denotes a new era in which connectivity will become increasingly fluid and flexible. Eventually leading to enhancing knowledge sharing, learning and productivity.
Question 5: What are the barriers that might stand in the way?
The adoption of new technologies are always challenging. It requires to built-up a complete ecosystem where leaders across industries need to come together and work towards the adoption. Standardization and certifications are equally important activities which is currently happening in light communication domain within both IEEE and ITU.
